The Kappa Gamma chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was installed on October 23rd, 1999.
The first new group of initiates ("Alpha Class") were initiated into Kappa Gamma in the Spring of 2000. Kappa Gamma received a Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award for "Outstanding Fulfillment of National Objectives. Kappa Gamma received a Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award for "Outstanding Fulfillment of National Objectives." In this year, Kappa Gamma began holding a service project titled "Girl Scout Music Day," where local girl scouts are invited to participate in musical activities to earn their music badges! This service project has become a tradition for Kappa Gamma, and is the largest service project that the chapter holds each year. Kappa Gamma received a Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award for "Outstanding Fulfillment of National Objectives." Kappa Gamma initiated 12 new members, which is the second largest member-in-training class that the chapter has ever had! |
Kappa Gamma Fun Facts!
- At the first initiation for the Chapter, Elise Beaver (local SAI alumnae,) Shelby McFarlane (Province Officer of Tau B & D,) Ruth Sieber Johnson, the then National Vice President of Membership, and the then National Secretary were present. 22 sisters were initiated at this time!
- We have had the pleasure of initiating important faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as National Arts Associates and Friends of the Arts! These faculty include Dr. Kevin Geraldi, Dr. John Locke, Dr. Elizabeth Keathley, Dr. Steven Stusek, Dr. Erika Boysen, Dr. Brett Nolker, Dr. Carole Ott, Dr. Welborne Young, and the late Dr. Dennis Askew.
- We have had the honor of receiving the Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award for "Outstanding Fulfillment of National Objectives" 3 times since the founding of Kappa Gamma.
- Since our founding, we have initiated 244* sisters to the Kappa Gamma Chapter!
